Parent Information

At Roebuck Primary School, we value strong partnerships between home and school and believe that working together helps every child achieve their best. We are committed to providing families with the information, resources and support they need to stay connected and engaged in their child's learning journey.

Parents and carers are encouraged to keep up to date with school news, events and important announcements through our regular communication channels, including Compass, newsletters, the school website and social media platforms. The school's Term Planner is also a valuable resource, providing an overview of important dates and events throughout the term. As a live document, the planner is subject to change and should be checked regularly for updates.

Supporting Healthy Lunchboxes

A healthy lunchbox plays an important role in helping children stay focused, energised and ready to learn throughout the school day. Roebuck Primary School encourages families to provide nutritious food options that support students' health, wellbeing and academic success.

Healthy lunchbox ideas may include:

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Sandwiches, wraps or rolls with healthy fillings
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Yoghurt
  • Boiled eggs
  • Wholegrain snacks
  • Water as the preferred drink

When packing lunchboxes, families are encouraged to choose foods from the five food groups and limit highly processed foods, sugary snacks and sweetened drinks where possible.

Useful Lunchbox Resources

Families may find the following resources helpful when planning healthy school lunches:

Promoting Home Reading

At Roebuck Primary School, we believe that reading is one of the most important skills children can develop. Regular reading at home helps build vocabulary, improve comprehension, strengthen literacy skills and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Families are encouraged to make reading a part of their daily routine, even if only for a short time each day. Reading together provides valuable opportunities for children to practise their skills, discuss stories and develop confidence as readers. Parents and carers can support home reading by listening to their child read, asking questions about the text, and celebrating their progress and achievements.

Whether students are reading independently, sharing books with family members, or exploring stories together, consistent home reading supports classroom learning and contributes to improved educational outcomes. At Roebuck Primary School, we value the important role families play in nurturing strong reading habits and helping children become confident, successful learners.
